Joyce ( Joy)'s Story
An update 2010
This year, since turning 71, I have finally retired from my missionary life working in foreign countries.
My new ministry is writing books for children. Living in my own country, now, has given me a new appreciation for what we have here. I'm lookng forward to more experiences and new challenges.
My family consists of 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 9 great- granchildren with more on the way.
I am living in the Dallas area, where most of my children live...although not with them.
I have been a widow for 29 years and have had a great career in teaching as an Educational Missionary. My work has taken me to Canada with an Ojibway Indian tribe, Mexico, China,New Mexico, with the Navajo tribe, Peru, Honduras and Belize. What a blessing it was to work with these wonderful children. om my own family, but I knew this was the life God had chosen for me.
Yes, I did get lonely always having to travel by myself to foreign countries, but then I have always liked challenges.
Sometimes, it got hard when we had to deal with no electricity or no water after 2;30 p.m., but working with those kids made it all worthwhile.
My hobbies are reading, listening to good music, traveling, watching videos or dvds of decent movies. I especially like musicals (old ones) and Westerns, some dramas are ok too.
I love cats, but since I'm allergic to them, I can't have any live ones, Unfortunately, I still have asthma, which sometimes slows me down.
I would love to hear from some of my classmates of 1957. Sorry, but I don't have any pictures of me from my high school days. The one you see is what I look like now. Let's get reaquainted.
